SYSTEMATICALLY IMPROVE SCHOOL PERFORMANCE
To reach this goal of increasing the number of high-quality schools, the district must strategically improve schools by evaluating every campus and providing support and resources to address their needs. The systematic approach includes a planning cycle to create new and improved learning options that not only engage but also excite, prepare, and support students.
IMPLEMENT RIGOROUS CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
While the Chief Academic Officer will lead the teaching and learning functions of the district, support from the Chief of Schools is key to ensuring clear expectations and quality resources along with supports for instruction at the campus level. The two offices will work hand-in-hand to ensure all students have access to rigorous curricula and instruction and teachers have the materials and guidance needed to ensure alignment.
EXPAND EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION OPTIONS
Aldine ISD has a solid track record of investing in early childhood education. The district offers tuition-free, full-day programs at many of its neighborhood schools. Opportunities for our youngest learners to access school increased in 2018-2019 when the district reorganized its campuses to develop 12 primary schools. The district also launched Pre-K3 pilot programs at several of these campuses to expand access to more families. Focus on expanding enrollment and the quality of early childhood education opportunities in the district will continue to ensure foundational learning is strong.
EXPAND OPTIONS TO COLLEGE AND CAREER ACCESS
The district’s mission clearly states its focus is on ensuring students are college- and career-ready. This work should begin as early as middle school. By developing college and career pathways, all students will be aware of their options following graduation. Students will be able to explore careers and visit colleges while receiving advising support. Graduates will leave Aldine ISD prepared to succeed no matter where life takes them.
As one of the largest, most diverse districts in Texas, Aldine ISD must set the bar high for teaching and learning. This includes ensuring every student performs at the highest level possible, all students have access to highly rated schools, and instructional practices are rigorous and challenging. In addition, intentional investments in early childhood education will give our youngest learners a strong foundation in literacy and math. That intentionality must be cultivated through high school, ensuring students have the tools and skills for success in college, career, and life.
EVERY ALDINE ISD STUDENT DESERVES…
- to enter the classroom ready to learn;
- to be academically competitive with students across Texas and the nation;
- to graduate with choices and opportunities; and
- to receive an education that prepares them to take care of themselves and their families.
